In May 2026, His Royal Highness Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy visited The Shroud of Turin: An Immersive Experience at Christ Cathedral in Garden Grove, California. The museum is presented by the Diocese of Orange in partnership with Othonia and Papaian Studios.
The visit carried a special meaning. The House of Savoy cared for the Shroud for more than five centuries, from 1453 until King Umberto II, the Prince’s grandfather, left it to the Holy See in 1983.
The following evening, the American Foundation of Savoy Orders held its Notte di Savoia gala in Los Angeles. It raised more than $150,000 to help seventh-grade students in the Diocese of Orange and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles visit the museum, especially students from economically disadvantaged schools.
“If we take 100 kids and one is transformed, then it’s worth it,” the Prince said of the effort.
